Build around roofing and basements.
I chose the subjects from the available material. The roofing and customer-testimonial pieces use social proof; the basement piece follows a problem–solution structure.
Erie Home / CapsLock hiring assessment
Creative decisions, audio recovery, and multi-format delivery
CapsLock gave me the Erie Home YouTube channel and asked for three different videos, each in vertical, square, and horizontal formats. I chose the angles and handled the hooks, structure, footage selection, captions, audio, and final edits.
Project at a glance
The 18-second basement edit is shown here in its square version. It was one of three edits in the successful submission.
The brief
The source channel was the only material supplied. There was no script, raw-footage package, or prescribed creative angle. My task was to develop three different videos and adapt each to three aspect ratios.
I chose the subjects from the available material. The roofing and customer-testimonial pieces use social proof; the basement piece follows a problem–solution structure.
I selected the footage, developed the hooks, and rebuilt the sequence. Captions and audio were also my decisions, rather than elements specified in a supplied script.
I adapted each finished edit to vertical, square, and horizontal layouts, reframing the footage and positioning captions for each format.
The other two edits
These square versions show the testimonial-led side of the assessment, alongside the basement edit above.
The hiring outcome
No revisions were requested before I progressed to the team-lead interview. The team lead responded positively to the clean, neat execution and editing style. I went on to join CapsLock as a Video Editor & Content Media Specialist.
